Build Core Strength

The core muscles of the body are a group of muscles that stabilize and support the spine, pelvis, and hips. These muscles include the rectus abdominis, transverse abdominis, internal and external obliques, and the erector spinae. These muscles are essential for maintaining good posture, balance, and stability in everyday activities and in athletic performance. All of these muscles can be activated through yoga poses.

It’s not that difficult to find these muscles in each pose but it’s not intuitive or natural.  There are nuances to ensuring your body works efficiently and in proper balance.  In a private yoga class, we observe your posture and alignment in each pose, and provide both verbal cues and hands-on adjustments to help you align your body correctly.

So how will this be different than doing the same pose watching an online video or in person at a group yoga class ?  In a controlled setting of a private class we move at your pace and provide detailed instruction.  You will notice the difference immediately.  Take a basic poses like triangle pose.

It seems very basic but the differences are fundamental.   With a few easy cues and using prop you will notice the potential to fully activate the core and really feel the deep hip and chest stretch in triangle pose.

The same applies to every pose to help you move from your core while strengthening it.

Doing yoga with this awareness trains the muscles in your core to work in harmony. This leads to better balance and steadiness, also called stability. Stability is important whether you're on the playing field or doing regular activities. In fact, most sports and other physical activities depend on stable core muscles
