Jonathan took his first yoga class in his twenties when a friend was teaching. He began attending once a week and moving in ways he had never done before. He visited India several times. He opened Fireflow in 2007 to make a career change. He has studied with many of the world’s best Ashtanga teachers, such as Matthew Sweeney, Mark Darby, and Danny Paradise – all of whom he has brought to Fireflow to teach the community. He maintained a daily Ashtanga/Mysore practice for many years and this informs how he teaches. In 2015 he completed his first silent meditation retreat with Shinzen Youung and maintains a regular meditation practice. Over 9 years he has taught thousands of classes. He offers safe adjustments and precise alignment cues. The classes are slow and deep. They combine flow, core centred movement, and working in ways which generate a deep sweat and relaxation.

Patricia has been teaching at Fireflow for the past year. She started dance lessons at age three and taught dance for 15 years in the Niagara region.She found yoga complemented her dance and workout regime. She studied at Downward Dog where she also teaches and assists some of their main classes.She brings a unique touch to all of her classes often bringing in her own props such as dowels, and eye pillows.She will do whatever she can to create an amazing class! Patricia maintains a regular Mysore practice and finds inspiration from some of Toronto’s most creative yoga teachers who combine strength with alignment.

Andrea

Andrea has practiced yoga since the age of 15 and has taught since 2002.She leads workshops across Canada, the United States. She leads Fireflow’s Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Program. She often assists Judith Lasater, one of the pioneers of Restorative Yoga, at her North American workshops. She has been teaching Prenatal Yoga for many years and brings her wealth of experience and knowledge to every class.Andrea seeks to make her classes healing, fun, and inclusive so that each student can experience optimal health and happiness.

Terry

Terry is a retired school principal with a great love of yoga. She was completely off our rader. A friend recommended her. He love of teaching yoga and teaching pregnant women is contagious. She sets up the room as a circle and makes the class an all encompassing experience.   She speaks about what a privilege it is for her to be with such an amazing group of students. We are as grateful to have her at Fireflow as she is to have such amazing students.

Melissa

Melissa

Melissa’s experience is vast and wide.She has worked on over 80 stage productions around the world and has performed in Aerial productions at the AGO and Nuit Blanche. She can teach you how to fly (trained and teaches Aerial silks), sing, dance, write and play. She teaches at the Toronto District School Board and has an MFA in Creative Writing. Her classes ooze with passion and spirit. She likes it when students curse her for make them work so hard.

Lou

Lou teaches Mindfulness Meditation Stress Reduction at Fireflow.He began mediating 30 years ago. Before becoming a meditation teacher Lou worked as an enginneer. He also holds an MBA and a Masters in Education. He has been leading Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programs for the past 19 years after studying with Jon Kabbat Zin. In 2008 he ran as candidate for the Green Party in North York and received over 3,000 voites. He possesses a great passion and belief in the power of meditation to make people happier. His sweet personality and kind ways are evident to everyone in class.
