Looking for one of the best yoga retreats in Costa Rica? Interested to study with two master Ashtanga yoga teachers for seven days by the ocean in perfect weather? Join us in Costa Rica January 28th – February 4th, 2017.

Join Certified Ashtanga Yoga Teachers Mark and Joanne Darby for 7 days of yoga, workshops, along with opportunities for surfing, hiking, zip lining, horseback riding, scuba diving, and star gazing.

Our yoga retreat takes place in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.

Each morning begins with an early morning meditation followed by yoga on our ocean facing yoga deck. Afternoon workshop explore things such as backbends, twists, arm balances, standing poses, and the secrets of the universe.

It is seven days to nourish your body and spirit.  Renew yourself.  Daily yoga and workshops with two master teachers. Improve your yoga practice as you sip in the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that a tropical paradise has to offer.  Plus it is rare opportunity to study in a small setting with such experienced and passionate teachers.  Improve your yoga practice, learn tools and techniques to take your yoga studies and experience to the next level, learn how to ensure a safe practice or to work with injuries, and take home wisdom to stay with you forever.

Darby and Joanne spent four years studying personally with Pattabhi Jois, the founder of Ashtanga yoga. They practices with him twice a day and were often the only two people in the room.  This was their introduction to yoga.  Over the past thirty five years they have continued to develop and grow their personal understanding of yoga, the body, and how to make yoga work so that it is healing, strengthening and safe.IMG_8541

Aside from their personal yoga history, they posses a childlike enthusiasm for teaching, doing yoga, and growing.

In 2014, at our first Costa Rica retreat, nearing age 65 Darby and Joanne began scuba diving and received their certification.  In the afternoons, before or after the workshops, look for Darby in the ocean surfing with ease and grace.

After morning practice enjoy coconut water straight out a freshly cut coconut along with an abundance of fresh fruits.  After breakfast  go for a surf or hang out on the beach. Or maybe you’d rather hang by the infinity pool? Or perhaps learn to scuba dive, go ziplining, or just chill and rest?

If you eat seafood you might take a 10 minute drive down the road and visit the fisherman arriving with their morning catch.  In the evening everyone in the town gathers to the beach for the daily natural phenomena of the sunset over the ocean. bananabeach
